Infectious Generosity

In any vision of a fallen society (and recent series like Fallout on Amazon or The Last of Us on HBO  are demonstrations), the first humane attribute to vanish is generosity, and almost immediately, 'contempt' becomes the most prevalent expression. I see the point—'dehumanization' is critical to defining a dystopian reality and what it is not to be human but not to be part of the collective, and the connective tissue of any collective is relationships. We all understand that social relationships are built on reciprocity, but how many of us remember that reciprocity is based on that initial act of kindness and generosity?

I almost never read DIY or self-improvement books, but this is a 'feel good' book I would like to keep by my bedside for whenever I feel low.
